Hello everyone,
Uttlesford District Council has submitted amendments to the Local Plan, and we urgently need your help. Please take a few minutes to comment on their Main Modifications before Monday 27th of October.
You all helped to bring the Land North of Taylors Farm (LNTF) to the attention of Planning Inspectors. They will write to Uttlesford early next year and we expect LNTF to be a key part of their feedback. The plan is NOT yet agreed – there still is more to do.
The Main Modifications that most affect LNTF:
MM 33. Allows developers to expand employment sites even within residential areas, including those next to our homes. If you want an idea of what that could look like, check out Astley Business Park on Facebook. If it happened there, it can happen here.
MM 62. Increases the size of the land “safeguarded for transport access to the A120” next to LNTF from 29 acres to 67 acres, taking land out of the Countryside Protection Zone (CPZ). How much land do they need to build a road!!
Don’t be misled by the term “Safeguarded land” – it could be used for major roads, housing, or warehouses, bringing the total LNTF + Safeguarded area (Takeley Street) to 134 acres.
A new access road to the A120 here looks good on paper but will never happen in the lifetime of this plan. Too expensive. Impractical. It is just a ruse to get the Local Plan past the Inspector and obtain Planning Permission on LNTF. The LNTF Developer told the Planning Inspector outright at the Hearing that the access would be onto the B1256 and they would NOT use the A120. No access at all from the B1256 should be permitted.
MM 63. Correclty removes the Operational Airport Ponds from the CPZ, as requested by the Inspector and MAG (Stansted Airport), but UDC have now “safeguarded” the same operational airport land to directly benefit a Developer. We are absolutely confident that MAG will not allow a Developer open access to land essential for airport safety and operations.
Every comment counts. Show the Planning Inspector, Uttlesford and the Developer that we mean business and we will not take this lying down.
Deadline: 5pm, Monday 27th October.
